Dues are $10, but may be waived by 1) participating in contests that have club competition and claiming SMC as your club, or 2) being part of an SMC team (e.g. NA Sprint).

Waiver Details:

In the SMC circle:
There is a requirement to make 100 total Sweepstakes qsos over the two weekends of the contest. The log must be submitted to the ARRL and list "Society of Midwest Contesters" on the club participation line. Plus, you must submit one other score for club competition  for a contest during the year under the SMC flag. The second contest can be any of your choosing. VHF, NAQP, CQWW ARRLDX 160 10m, etc. In the alternative, absent activity, you can pay $10 as your club dues.

Outside of the SMC circle (the circle we use for SS):
You must submit two scores per year for club or team competition under the SMC flag. There are six NAQPS and four Sprints. All you need to do is sign up for a "team" and make some contacts.  Or again, you can pay $10 due on January 1.

Qualifying scores are those submitted during the calendar year prior to January 1.

There is nothing wrong with activity AND dues. Donations are still accepted and if you typically donate more than the amount for dues, you would not have to worry about the activity requirement.
